Art History

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love art. I'm also a major history nerd and I love movies. Together this combo makes the movie: Frida. I believe the movie was tremendously under rated but Salma Hayek had her character "Frida Kahlo" down to a science. Many of you who are reading this probably do not know what I am talking about. Here is a breif history on whom Frida Kahlo is.

Frida Kahlo born in 1907 was a Mexican Painter. She did not originally plan to become an artist. She was polio survivor, at 15 Kahlo entered the premedical program at the National Preparatory School in Mexico City. However, this training ended three years later when Kahlo was gravely hurt in a bus accident. She spent over a year in bed, recovering from fractures of her back, collarbone, and ribs, as well as a shattered pelvis and shoulder and foot injuries. Despite more than 30 subsequent operations, Kahlo spent the rest of her life in constant pain, finally succumbing to related complications at age 47. She fell in love and married Mexican muralist Diego Rivera at 21,whose approach to art and politics suited her own. Although he was 20 years her senior, they were married in 1929; this stormy, passionate relationship survived infidelities, the pressures of Rivera's career, a divorce and remarriage, and Kahlo's poor health.

When I saw that movie I was inspired to tap into my creative side. I believe a lot of artists have dark side inwhich their art is a way to release those feelings.
